ASPENS SYSTEMS CORPORATION
EXPANDS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY For Immediate Release: January 3, 1997
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President
Marilyn J. Praisner announced that Aspen Systems Corporation, a major county employer
engaged in information management and professional/technical services, will consolidate its
Montgomery County headquarters and two satellite offices -- and nearly 700 employees -- to
the Research Office Center in Rockville.
Aspen Systems Corporation relocated its corporate headquarters from Pittsburgh, Pa. to
Montgomery County in 1973 and has been growing and expanding in the county ever since
that time. The State and the County provided Aspen a mix of loans and grants to assist with
its expansion.
"Montgomery County has enjoyed a tremendous relationship with Aspen for the past
two decades and we're delighted that they have chosen to consolidate and expand here," said
Duncan. "The successful retention of this large and expanding county employer is the direct
result of strong cooperation among the County, the State and the City of Rockville."
"I am delighted that, working with the State, we were able to keep this firm in
Montgomery County and that the Council-initiated Economic Development Fund is so
successful," said Praisner.

"Aspen Systems is embarking on exciting projects that will create good, family-
supporting jobs," said Governor Parris N. Glendening. "This cooperation between Aspen
Systems, the State of Maryland and Montgomery County is the type of partnership that is
helping to successfully move Maryland's economy into the 21st century."
Rockville Mayor Rose Krasnow said, "We were very pleased to work in partnership
with Montgomery County and the State of Maryland, to assure that Aspen Systems remained
in this area. Given our long-standing relationship with Aspen Systems, we were particularly
gratified they selected Rockville as their new home. They represent the very best corporate
America has to offer and we look forward to their continued success here in the City of
Rockville."
"While we explored opportunities thoughout the Metropolitan DC area, I am very
pleased that Aspen Systems will be able to expand its corporate headquarters in Montgomery
County," said Aspen Systems President Albert Lampert. "The business friendly environment
created by the County, State, and City of Rockville were key factors in our decision. I would
like to thank Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan and the economic development
community for their support."
Aspen Systems Corporation, an employee-owned information technology company
serving both Federal and commercial clients, will be relocating offices from 1600 and 1700
Research Boulevard in Rockville and Silver Spring to its new 150,000-plus square-foot
facilities at 2277 and 2275 Research Boulevard in Rockville. To accommodate anticipated
future growth, projected to increase to approximately 950 employees by the year 2000, Aspen
has an option to lease additional space in the office complex. # # #
