GEORGETOWN BRANCH TRAIL
DEDICATION CEREMONY SET                 For Immediate Release: May 12, 1997 


     Formal dedication ceremonies for the four-mile Georgetown Branch Trail will be held
at the Elm Street Park trailhead (one block east of Wisconsin Avenue) on Saturday, May 17,
at 9:30 a.m.
     Local public officials, community leaders and biking enthusiasts will celebrate the new
four-mile transportation link connecting Bethesda and Silver Spring and the Capital Crescent
Trail and Rock Creek Trail systems.  Together with the Capital Crescent Trail it provides a
nearly car-free environment for 11 miles between Silver Spring and Georgetown.
     Parking for the ceremony, to be held rain or shine, will be in either  the public lot
behind the Bethesda Farm Women's Market or on 47th Street adjacent to Elm Street Park.
     The event is sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Public Works and
Transportation and the Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail.
