DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
RUSTIC ROADS ADVISORY COMMITTEE    For Immediate Release: May 13, 1997


     
     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill one partial-term
vacancy on the County's Rustic Roads Advisory Committee.  The term expires in December
1998.
     This vacancy must be filled by either an owner-operator of commercial farmland who
earns 50 percent or more of his/her income from farming, or a person who represents a civic
association located in the agricultural reserve.  Interested residents who have questions about
their eligibility may contact Don Ayres of the Department of Permitting Services at (301)
217-2162.
     The Rustic Roads Advisory Committee consists of seven members who must all be
Montgomery County residents.  Members usually serve three-year terms without
compensation.  The committee meets at least six times a year.  Its duties include promoting
public awareness of the Rustic Roads Program, reviewing and commenting on the
classification of rustic roads, and reviewing and commenting on Executive regulations and
policies that may affect the program.
     Interested residents should write by June 6 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at
the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville Md. 20850.  A brief resume,
including home and work phone numbers, should be enclosed.  Members of County boards,

committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation
process.
