8TH ANNUAL FARM TOUR AND
HARVEST SALE SET FOR JULY 26  For Immediate Release:  May 15, 1997




     Twenty-one Montgomery County farms will showcase their operations and
their home-grown agricultural products at the Eighth Annual Farm Tour and Harvest
Sale on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event is sponsored by the
Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, in cooperation with the
Montgomery County Farm Tour Committee.
     The annual tour provides an opportunity for individuals, groups and families to
spend an afternoon celebrating Montgomery County’s farm heritage, by visiting the
participating farms.  Fresh fruits and vegetables, and other products, will be on sale at
the various farm locations and a variety of activities and demonstrations will be
featured.
      The Farm Tour and Harvest Sale offers a day of enjoyment for the whole
family, a chance to experience first-hand the wonders of a working farm in
Montgomery County,  said David W. Edgerley, Director of the Montgomery County
Department of Economic Development.   Our local agricultural industry is still an
important contributor to the County's economy and this special event helps to broaden
our residents' awareness and appreciation of that fact.

FARM TOUR SET FOR JULY 26

     Farm Tour and Harvest Sale brochures will be available at Montgomery
County public libraries, Montgomery County community centers, the Montgomery
County Conference and Visitors Bureau (CVB), Chambers of Commerce and the
Cooperative Extension Service in late May or early June.
