DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE CITIZENS
ADVISORY BOARD For Immediate Release (January 22, 1997)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill seven
vacancies on the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Citizens Advisory Board. Two of the
vacancies must be filled by area business representatives and five by area
residents -- either homeowners or renters. Because of the expansion of the
area served by this board to include Potomac and North Bethesda/Garrett Park,
residents of and business people in those areas are especially encouraged to
apply.
Pending legislation recommends this Board be renamed as the Western
Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board.
The l5-member board advises the Director of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase
Services Center, the County Executive and the County Council on area needs and
priorities such as transportation, human services, environment, public safety,
and other issues of local importance.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation and contribute
approximately six hours each month, attending both daytime and evening board
and committee meetings. Meetings are held the third Monday night of the
month.
