SILVER SPRING REDEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE TO MEET JUNE 2 For Immediate Release: May 22, 1997

The Silver Spring Redevelopment Steering Committee will hold its next meeting on
Monday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Silver Spring Armory, 925 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring.
The public is invited to attend.
This will be the committee's first meeting since Montgomery County Executive
Douglas M. Duncan named the new development team he has selected to work with the
County on plans for a new town center project in downtown Silver Spring. Last week, the
Executive announced that a development team consisting of Foulger-Pratt Companies, The
Peterson Companies of Maryland, Argo Investment Company, RTKL Associates, Inc. and
MRA International will head efforts to redevelop the central core site at Georgia Avenue and
Colesville Road.
At the steering committee's June 2 meeting, the development team will begin
conferring with the 31-member group as it develops concept plans, a massing scheme and a
tenant mix for the project. The steering committee, which is comprised of representatives
from civic, business and community groups in the Silver Spring area, was appointed by
Duncan to address issues related to the redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Silver
Spring.
For more information, call the Silver Spring Redevelopment Office at (301) 565-7300.
