AREA PUBLIC FORUMS TO
BE HELD FOR CITIZEN INPUT
ON CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
PROGRAM
                              For Immediate Release: June 2, 1997

                    CORRECTED VERSION

     Individuals and groups are invited to attend several public forums in June to offer
input into the County's FY99 - FY04 Capital Improvements Program (CIP).  The forums, 
hosted by local Citizens Advisory Boards, are designed to define regional CIP priorities for
the areas. Capital projects include costs for new construction and the renovations of major
projects such as roads; public schools, including Montgomery College; water and sewer lines;
parks, libraries, health and recreation facilities; and other public buildings and projects.
     The forums will be held as follows:
     o June 3, 7 p.m. -- Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center,4805 Edgemoor 
     Lane, Bethesda;
     
     o June 4, 7 p.m. -- East County Regional Services Center, 13436 New Hampshire
     Ave., Silver Spring (located in the Colesville Shopping Center at New Hampshire Ave.
     and Randolph Rd.;
     
     o June 10, 7 p.m. -- Silver Spring Regional Services Center, 8818 Georgia Ave.,
     Silver Spring;
     
     o June 17, 7 p.m. -- Mid-County Regional Services Center, 2424 Reedie Dr., Wheaton;
     and    

     o June 23, 7:15 p.m. -- Upcounty Regional Services Center, 12900 Middlebrook Rd.,
     Germantown.

     Suggestions and comments from participants will be considered by the area citizens
advisory boards for inclusion in the boards' list of priorities to be submitted to County
Executive Douglas M. Duncan in late July for planning the next CIP.  The list is also shared
with County department and agencies for their planning considerations.
