DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
CONFERENCE CENTER COMMUNITY
LIAISON COMMITTEE For Immediate Release: ( June 18, 1997)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill seven slots on the
newly-established Montgomery County Conference Center Community Liaison Committee.
The Conference Center will be located at the intersection of Marinelli Road and Rockville
Pike opposite the White Flint Metro Station. One seat must be filled by a resident of the
Wisconsin condominium building and one by a resident of Georgetown Village
condominiums. (Applicants who represent these developments must be endorsed by their
respective governing bodies.) One seat will be dedicated to a representative of the Western
Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board. The remaining four positions will be for
residential or business members who live or work in the vicinity of the proposed conference
center. Residents who live in the North Bethesda Planning area are especially enncouraged to
apply. Additionally, any one with expertise in architecture, urban design, economic
development, planning, transportation or local community issues are also encouraged to apply.
The Committee will provide the community's perspective on certain conference center
issues affecting the adjacent area. The Community Liaison Committee will consult with the
project team about traffic, security and parking matters affecting the adjacent residential and

business communities. The Committee will work with the project team to ensure that design
and construction activities remain sensitive to the residents and businesses of the surrounding
area.
Members will serve two-year terms without compensation. Regular meeting dates and
times will be established at the first meeting.
Applicants should write by July 18 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the
Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, with
home and work telephone numbers, should be enclosed, detailing pertinent experience,
interests and community or business group associations.
