DUNCAN HAILS EXPANSION OF MAJOR
TECHNOLOGY FIRM AND CONSTRUCTION
OF NEW OFFICES AS FURTHER EXAMPLES
OF  ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SURGE     For Immediate Release:  June 19, 1997


     Celebrating the groundbreaking for a new Rockville office complex which will
become home to CDA Investment Technologies and Thomson Technology Services Group
(TTSG), Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan today hailed the business
expansion as "another example of the surge in economic development activity that the County
has been experiencing for the past two years."
     CDA and the Thomson Technology Services Group, both affiliated with the Toronto-
based Thomson Corporation, currently occupy separate office space in the Rockville area. 
Beginning next year, both firms will move into the new Research Plaza at 1445-1455
Research Boulevard, a 220,000-square-foot office complex which is being developed by
WEST*GROUP.  Together, the two firms employ approximately 500 persons in Montgomery
County.  The companies project they will add another 70 employees by the end of 1998.
     "It is great news that these two outstanding high technology firms have chosen to
locate their Maryland headquarters in Rockville," said Duncan.  "Thomson Technology
Services Group and CDA Investment Technologies are part of a growing mix of high tech,
financial and professional firms which are choosing to make Montgomery County their home.
We welcome both of these companies and this very significant new, build-to-suit project in
the County's I-270 Technology Corridor."
