RIDE ON LOWERS FARES FOR
SENIORS/DISABLED; CHILDREN
UNDER FIVE RIDE FREE For Immediate Release: June 27, 1997
Beginning Tuesday, July 1, Ride On bus fares for seniors and the disabled, which are
currently 80 cents during rush hour and 50 cents during non-rush hour, will be reduced to 50
cents at all times.
Also, children under five years of age will be able to use Ride On bus services for
free. In the past, children could ride for free only if they were no more than 40 inches tall,
or equal to the height of the farebox.
These changes will provide consistency with Metrobus' senior/disabled and child fares,
so that the same policy will apply on all buses in Montgomery County. The reduced fares
will also make it easier for seniors and persons with disabilities to use the County's Ride On
bus service.
For information on Ride On routes and schedules, call the County's Transit
Information Center at 301-217-7433; TDD/TTY 301-217-2222; or log on the Internet and go
to www.dpwt.com/rideon.
