SILVER SPRING REGIONAL SERVICES
STAFF MOVE TO CONSOLIDATE
WITH REDEVELOPMENT OFFICE For Immediate Release: June 30, 1997
In order to complete a merger of the Silver Spring Regional Services, Redevelopment
and Urban District offices, the Silver Spring Regional Services Center staff will move to the
Silver Spring Redevelopment office at 962 Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring, as of Wednesday,
July 2.
All three County agencies have been involved with issues and activities affecting
downtown and greater Silver Spring, and officials say the merger will improve the
coordination of the offices and the services that each provides. The new consolidated agency
will be known as "Silver Spring Regional Services."
The current Silver Spring Regional Services Center offices, at 8818 Georgia Ave in
Silver Spring, will remain open for Health and Human Services functions such as adult, child
and adolescent outpatient services; crisis intervention; and income maintenance.
"This move should help to improve efficiency by merging three organizations with
similar missions," said Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan. "The result will
be better service-delivery to the residents and businesses of Silver Spring."
The current Silver Spring Urban District Office, located at 945 Pershing Drive, will
serve as the "Silver Spring Information Center." Ride On fare media, composting materials
