  COUNTY TO HOLD
  WORKSHOP ON FAMILY
DISASTER PLANNING For Immediate Release: July 7, 1997

Montgomery County’s Division of Emergency Management will host a
workshop on family disaster preparedness on Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to noon
at the County Office Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville.
The three-hour workshop will focus on what families can do to better prepare
for weather emergencies and other calamities, including fires and hazardous materials
spills. Training will follow guidelines established by the Federal Emergency
  Management Agency (FEMA).
Families participating in the workshop will learn the four steps to safety, which
include finding out what could happen to them, creating a disaster plan and practicing
and maintaining that plan. The workshop will also assist families by showing them
how to create an emergency checklist and prepare a disaster supplies kit.
Each family will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop. For
further information, contact Barbara Moore at (301) 217-2470.
