OFFICIALS CELEBRATE GROUNDBREAKING
FOR McKESSON BIOSERVICES' NEW
ROCKVILLE PHARMACEUTICAL FACILITY  For Immediate Release:  July 10, 1997   
          

     Celebrating the groundbreaking for McKesson BioServices’ new Pharmaceutical
Services Division facility, to be built in Rockville, Montgomery County Executive Douglas
M. Duncan today recognized the company’s expansion as an important asset to the County’s
biotechnology business community.
      Your company’s commitment to this significant expansion project underscores the
importance of the biotechnology industry for our local and national economies well into the
next century,  Duncan told McKesson officials at the groundbreaking ceremony.
     McKesson BioServices, a subsidiary of McKesson Corporation, will construct a
76,500-square-foot-facility designed to meet current Good Manufacturing Practice standards of
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  The new facility will enlarge McKesson’s drug
development process support operations, which include research and development, analysis,
pharmaceutical packaging and labeling, and direct patient delivery services for major public
and private biomedical companies and institutions.
     "This facility will enable McKesson BioServices to offer additional services to our
existing client base, as well as provide our company with the space we need to expand our
business into new biomedical support areas," said Dr. Harrison Hoppes, Ph.D., President of

McKesson BioServices.  "Its location in the heart of Maryland's growing biotechnology
community further strengthens the State's and County's position as a leading site for
biotechnology firms."
     McKesson currently occupies more than 110,000 square feet of space in the Rockville
and Gaithersburg area and employs 160 people.  When completed in early 1998, the new
facility is expected to accommodate up to 30 additional positions.
     McKesson BioServices is a subsidiary of McKesson Corporation, a San Francisco-
based Fortune 100 organization, the largest health care management company in North
American, as well as one of the nation’s largest bottled drinking water distributors.
