FIRST SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
SCHEDULED IN WHEATON                          For Immediate Release: July 14, 1997


     A mini-series of Wednesday evening concerts, to be held this summer in Veteran's
Memorial Park in Wheaton, will feature a variety of music.
     Artists scheduled to appear are:
          Blue Daze (Blue Grass) on July 23; Itadi Bonney (West African) on July 30;
Orchestra Melau (Latin American), August 6; and the Barry Gurley Band (Harry Connick,
Jr.), August 13.
     Refreshments will be sold on site.  Persons attending should bring lawn chairs or
blankets.  Seating will be provided for persons with disabilities and seniors.
     The non-alcoholic event is sponsored by the Wheaton Urban District, the American
Legions, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans Association.
     All concerts will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Veterans Park is located on the
corner of Reedie Drive and Fern Street, across from the Wheaton Metro station.
