DUNCAN WELCOMES EXPANSION OF
GERMANTOWN'S CELLMARK DIAGNOSTICS For Immediate Release: July 15, 1997
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan welcomed today's announcement
that Cellmark Diagnostics, a nationally renowned DNA analysis company, will remain in
Germantown, and expand its present facilities there. Duncan hailed the company as "a prime
example of the type of strong, high-tech growth that thrives here in Montgomery County."
"Montgomery County is proud to be the home of such a dynamic firm," said Duncan.
"We are all delighted with their decision to not only stay in Montgomery County, but to
expand here."
"Expansion of our facility is needed to keep pace with our company's continuing
growth in the DNA identity business and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction," said
Dr. Dan Garner, President of the Cellmark company. "We are particularly pleased that we
can accomplish these goals and remain in Montgomery County."
Cellmark Diagnostics, Inc., an employee-owned company, is a recognized leader in
forensic DNA analysis, and the largest independent forensic DNA testing laboratory in the
United States. The company established its human identity branch in 1987, and has since
analyzed thousands of samples from criminal and paternity cases across North and South

America. Cellmark officials have also provided expert testimony in more than 400 criminal
trials, worldwide, including the O.J. Simpson trial.
A subsidiary of Lifecodes Corporations, the leading manufacturer and worldwide
supplier of DNA products for human identity and transplantation, Cellmark has signed a 10-
year lease to retain and expand its Germantown facilities, located at 20271 Goldenrod Lane.
The expansion will effectively double the space occupied by the company prior to its last
expansion in April, 1996.
