FARM TOUR AND HARVEST
SALE SET FOR JULY 26 For Immediate Release: July 18, 1997

The eighth annual Montgomery County Farm Tour and Harvest Sale will take place
Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Montgomery County Department
of Economic Development, in cooperation with the Montgomery County Farm Tour
Committee, this year's event will showcase the operations and homegrown products of 21
local farms.
The tour and harvest sale provides individuals, groups and families an opportunity to
spend an afternoon celebrating Montgomery County's preserved farm heritage. Those
participating in the farm tour are invited to visit any or all of the farms involved in the event.
Visitors will be able to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, such as peaches, berries,
tomatoes and corn. Meanwhile, children can enjoy such activities as hay rides and close-up
encounters with farm animals. Also highlighted on this year's tour will be a local wine
production facility and one of Montgomery County's largest tree farms.
"The farm tour and harvest sale is a great outing for families," said Montgomery
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan. "It's a wonderful opportunity for the community to
experience and appreciate our County's rich farm heritage."
Farm Tour and Harvest Sale brochures -- complete with a map for self-guided tours
and directions to each of the participating farms -- are available at Montgomery County
