ROMER NAMES ACTING
DIRECTOR FOR OFFICE OF
COMMUNITY USE SCHOOLS              For Immediate Release: July 16, 1997



     Montgomery County Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Romer today named Sharon
Gran as acting director of the Office of Community Use of Schools.  Gran, a 10-year veteran
of the agency, replaces former director Gail Ayers who retired this month after 22 years of
service.
The Office of Community Use of Schools, an agency created in 1978, manages community
access to public buildings including after-hour use of public schools and other County
facilities. 
     Gran, who began working in the agency as an administrative specialist in 1983, has 
been serving as financial administrator.  In 1989, Gran left the County for four years to serve
as Rockville's City Clerk.  
     Gran resides in Derwood, and is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a
bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in general administration.
