COUNTY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS
TO WORK AS OMBUDSMAN
IN LOCAL NURSING HOMES        For Immediate Release: July 21, 1997


     Montgomery County's Long Term Care Ombudsman program is seeking volunteers to
advocate for senior citizens living in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. 
Volunteers are assigned to various facilities in the County to work with the staff and residents
in an effort to promote quality of life issues and resolve problems.  Hours are flexible.
     A four-day training program will be held September 16 - 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. at
the Holiday Park Senior Center in Wheaton.  The training will include program orientation
and information about the aging process, the nursing home system and advocacy skills.
