DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR
BUILDING CONTRACTORS                   For Immediate Release: July 30,1997


     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill one
public member vacancy on the Board of Registration for Building Contractors.
The vacancy is for a partial term expiring in September 1998.
     The five-member board provides for the licensing of residential building
contractors.  It holds hearings and can revoke, suspend or deny licenses. 
Members serve three-year terms without compensation but may be reimbursed for
expenses.  Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in
Rockville.  Members are required to file confidential financial statements
yearly.
     Applicants should write by August 22 to County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD
20850.  A brief resume with work and home telephone numbers should be
included.  Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve
on more than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
