RIDE ON EXTENDS ACCEPTANCE OF RAIL
TO BUS TRANSFERS AT SHADY GROVE    For Immediate Release: August 1, 1997


     Ride On buses operating from the Shady Grove Metrorail station will continue to
accept rail to bus transfers through June 1998.  Commuters will be able to ride free on Ride
On if they show the bus operator a transfer ticket from their initial Metro station.
     This special offer is available only at the Shady Grove station for riders transferring to
Ride On.  The regular Ride On fare is still $1.10 during weekday rush hours and 90 cents at
all other times.
     The ride incentive program, jointly implemented by Montgomery County and the
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), is being funded by the
Maryland Department of Transportation in an effort to ease commuting costs and increase the
number of transit riders.
