DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS TO FILL
VACANCIES ON ADVISORY COMMITTEE
ON CONSUMER AFFAIRS                           For Immediate Release (August 5, 1997)  


     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants for the Advisory
Committee on Consumer Affairs. The types of vacancies include three public-at-large
vacancies, one business vacancy (to be filled from a person nominated from the (Better
Business Bureau or another County-wide Association of Merchants) and one member of the
Community Action Board. Four incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.
     The nine-member committee advises the County's Department of Housing and
Community Affairs, Division  of Consumer Affairs.  Members serve three-year terms without
compensation.  Meetings are held the first Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville from
7 - 9 p.m. 
     Interested applicants should write to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan no later
than September 12 at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 
20850.  A brief resume including home and work phone numbers should be enclosed. 
Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one
such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.  
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation
process.
