Interages, a non-profit agency serving Montgomery County, is seeking Senior adults,
ages 55 and over, to participate in its Intergenerational Bridges one-on-one mentoring
program. Volunteers are needed to help immigrant children, ages 10 to 14, learn to speak
English and adjust to a new life in the U.S.
Tutoring sessions will take place at selected Montgomery County schools in Rockville
and Silver Spring, and mentors are asked to make a commitment of one hour per week, for
one school year. Training and ongoing support are provided by the Interages staff. The only
prerequisites for the job are a positive attitude, willingness to listen, tolerance for cultural
diversity, patience and a sense of humor.
