TELEPHONE BOOK RECYCLING MADE EASY
AT NINE DROP-OFF SITES For Immediate Release: September 5, 1997

Next to yesterday's news, there's nothing older than last year's phone book.
Getting rid of those outdated directories is easy for County residents, from September 22,
1997 through January 9, 1998, when they can recycle last year's phone books at nine
convenient sites.
Books to be dropped off should be dry and free of plastic wrapping.
Last year, approximately 450 tons of phone books were recycled locally. County
officials hope to increase that number this year, since recycling diverts the materials from the
landfill.
The program is supported by the Division of Solid Waste Services, in partnership
with: Bell Atlantic, Reuben H. Donnelley, Safeway, Seven-Eleven, Dunhill Management
Group, H.B.W. Property Management, W.C. and A.N. Miller. Also participating in the
program are the County's departments of Public Libraries and Recreation, and the Town of
Poolesville.
For information about the drop-off locations and hours of acceptance, call the
Recycling Hotline at 301-590-0046 (weekdays, 1 to 4 p.m.) or the Recycling Information Line
at 301-217-2870, anytime.
