 COUNTY PARTICIPATES
 IN LATINO FESTIVAL; FIRST
 COUNTY-WIDE EVENT TO
 BE HELD IN ROCKVILLE               For Immediate Release: September 11, 1997
 
 
      Montgomery County is one of more than 30 sponsors of the first County-wide Latino
 Festival.  The all-day event will be held on Sunday, September 14 in the parking lot of the
 Montgomery County Board of Education, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville.
      The free event begins at 9 a.m. and features a parade at 10 a.m., and music, dancing,
 food and other activities throughout the day until 9 p.m.  The opening ceremony for the
 festival will be held at noon and will feature a ribbon cutting and remarks by local officials
 and organizers.
      "Montgomery County is proud to be a sponsor for this festival which will highlight the
 talents and heritage of our Latino community," said Montgomery County Executive Douglas
 M. Duncan.
      Montgomery County, with more than 60,000 residents of Latino descent, has the
 largest population of Latin Americans in Maryland and the Washington metropolitan area.
      Parking for the festival will be located across the street at Montgomery College for a
 $2 fee.
