COMMISSION ON HUMANITIES
ANNOUNCES DEADLINES
FOR PROGRAM PROPOSALS -- CYCLE II For Immediate Release: Sept. 15, 1997
Local groups or residents interested in promoting the humanities are invited to submit
program proposals for Fiscal Year 1998 (July 1, 1997-June 30, 1998) to the Montgomery
County Commission on the Humanities. Funds are provided by the commission through co-
sponsorship of events. Awards could range from $150 to $3,000.
The commission encourages innovative and traditional formats and programs, such as
panel discussions, exhibits, literary readings, seminars, radio-TV programs or oral history
presentations. Topics might include civic values, the changing face of the county, history,
criticism of the arts and literature, and our changing schools.
Among those who may apply are civic and community associations, educational
organizations, interfaith groups, libraries, PTAs, nonprofit organizations and any other group
or individual interested in promoting the humanities.
The deadline for the first draft is October 6; the final draft is due November 17, 1997.
To receive an application and a copy of the Program Guidelines, call Penny Parsons at
