DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR 
US29 TRANSIT WAY PLANNING STUDY         For Immediate Release: February 3, l997

     Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan announced the formation of a 10-
member citizen consultation team to be part of the joint State Highway Administration and
Maryland Mass Transit Administration US Route 29 Transitway Project Planning Study. 
Nominations must be submitted by February 15, 1997 to the designated citizen advisory
board.     
     The study will take place over a two-year period, with meetings held monthly or bi-
monthly as needed.  Members of the citizen consultation team will be appointed from
designated geographical areas along Colesville Road/US Route 29 and from transit and
environmental groups.
     Nominations representing the Four Corners Planning Area, neighborhoods adjacent to
Colesville Road between the Capital Beltway and the Silver Spring CBD, the Silver Spring
CBD, and business representatives from the Silver Spring CBD, should be sent to the Silver
Spring Citizen Advisory Board, Attention: Rusty Wallace, 8818 Georgia Avenue, Silver
Spring, MD 20910:    
     Nominations representing the Fairland Planning Area, the White Oak Planning Area
and business representatives from the Four Corners, White Oak or Fairland Planning, should
be sent to the Eastern Montgomery Citizen Advisory Board, Attention: Anise Brown, 13436
New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20904.

U.S. ROUTE 29 TRANSITWAY PLANNING TEAM                 2-2-2-2

     Three other members will be appointed from the Silver Spring Transportation
Management District, an environmental advocacy group and a transit advocacy group. 
Interested members from these groups should submit their nomination to Rob Klein, Office of
