LATIN AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT
FEATURED DURING HISPANIC
HERITAGE MONTH For Immediate Release: September 19, 1997
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the public is invited to the opening of a
Latin American art exhibit on Saturday, September 20. The exhibit, "Década," will be held in
the lobby of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville, beginning at 2
p.m. The program is sponsored by the County Executive's Office of Community Outreach
and the Hispanic Employees' Association.
The Década art exhibit, now in its 10th year, will feature the works of 25 artists
representing 13 Latin American countries and Spain. This year, four artists from Florida will
also be highlighted.
A public reception, to include light refreshments and a cultural performance will also
be featured.
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President
Marilyn J. Praisner will present a joint proclamation to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month in
the County. The proclamation will be presented to Luis Salvatierra and Ana Harding,
curators of this year's exhibit.
All activities are free. Parking is available in the garage under the building on the
G-2 level, and across the street in the Stella Werner County Council Office Building garage,
located at the intersection of East Jefferson and Monroe streets.
The Executive Office Building is located three blocks from the Rockville Metro
Station.
