DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
FOR COMMUNITY ACTION
BOARD                         For Immediate Release:  September 22, 1997

     Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants from private,
non-profit organizations to fill vacancies on the County's Community Action Board.  The
Board advises the County Executive and the County Council on matters relating to the needs
of the poor.
     Applicants should be an official or member of a business, industry, labor, religious,
private welfare, private education, minority, civic, or other major private organization that is
concerned about poverty in the county. One primary member and one alternate will be
appointed from each organization selected for representation.  Members and alternates serve
four-year terms.  The Community Action Board meets on the fourth Tuesday evening of each
month except August at 7 p.m. in Rockville.
     Interested applicants should write to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan no later
than October 10 at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850.
A brief resume including home and work phone numbers should be enclosed. 
Members of County boards, committees, and commissions may not serve on more than one
such group at a time.
                         

                                   

     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. 
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation
process.
