GEORGETOWN MEDICAL CENTER
OPENS IN ROCKVILLE                              For Immediate Release:  November 6, 1997

     The newest Georgetown University Physician Practice which opened today in
Rockville will provide comprehensive multi-specialty medical services convenient to
Montgomery County and suburban Maryland.  The new 43,000 square-foot facility at 1396
Piccard Drive will provide care for members of more than 55 HMO and PPO managed care
and traditional health insurance plans.
     Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan said, "Georgetown's tradition of
excellence in health care will enhance the array of top-quality health care available to our
residents and employees," he said.  "We thank Georgetown for its early commitment to our
community through sponsorships of events including the Picture of Health Art Challenge and
its partnership with Fields Road Elementary School."
      Georgetown's Lombardi Cancer Center, the area's only National Cancer Center
Institute-designated Comprehensive Center, moved from its Shady Grove site to the new
facility.
     The new Rockville center will simplify the patient care and referral process by a
"one-stop shop" primary care and specialty services including family medicine, pediatrics,
internal medicine, after-hours care, a sleep disorders clinic, and laboratory and radiology
services.
