RECYCLING PATROL TO AWARD PRIZES
TO RESIDENTS DURING
MONTGOMERY RECYCLES WEEK For Immediate Release: Nov. 7, 1997

In recognition of the first annual "America Recycles Day" on November 15, County
Executive Douglas M. Duncan has proclaimed the week of November 9 as "Montgomery
County Recycles Week." In celebration, a special Recycling Patrol will award prizes to
County residents and employees who are spotted recycling correctly.
On weekdays during Montgomery County Recycles Week, the patrol will be on the
lookout for persons who are recycling. Single-family and multi-family home residents and
business employees who are seen recycling and have properly prepared their materials for
collection will be rewarded with a variety of prizes donated by more than 35 area businesses
(see attached list)
The Recycling Patrol will be looking for recyclers who know and follow the recycling
rules, including cleaning recyclables, omitting non-acceptable materials, and not putting
recyclables in plastic bags.
On November 12, the County Executive will personally present an award to a resident,
selected at random.
"I want residents and employees to know how much we appreciate their efforts

                                  -more-
