DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
TO FILL WATER QUALITY
ADVISORY GROUP VACANCIES                 For Immediate Release (Feb. 18, 1997)

     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill five
vacancies on the Water Quality Advisory Group in the following categories:  
academic and agricultural community representative (1); scientific water
resources expert (1); business community (1); environmental community (1); and
public-at-large (1). Four incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. 
Individuals with academic and scientific water resources expertise are
especially encouraged to apply.
     The 18-member committee provides recommendations to the County Executive
and the Council by March 1 of each year on issues related to the County's
water quality goals, objectives, policies and programs.
     Members serve three-year terms without compensation.  Meetings are held
the second Monday evening of each month.
     Applicants should write by March 21 to County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 
20850.  A resume, including work and home phone numbers, should be included. 
Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more
than one such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
