DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
ETHNIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE                For Immediate Release (Feb. 19, 1997)

     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is accepting applications for seven
vacancies on the Committee for Ethnic Affairs.  Five incumbents are eligible
apply for reappointment.
     The Committee serves as an advisory group to the County Executive,
County Council, and the Office of Community Outreach about ethnic affairs. 
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
in Rockville.
     Specific objectives of the Committee are to emphasize the linguistic and
cultural diversity of the County; to identify special needs of the ethnic
community; and to promote maximum involvement of all ethnic groups in the
County's government, business and community affairs.
     Applicants should write by March 21 to County Executive Douglas M.
Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 
20850.  A brief resume, with a description of interests, experience, club or
community group affiliations and especially community activities should be
included, along with the applicant's home and work telephone numbers.  Members
of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one
such group at a time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of these selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
