RIDE ON ACCEPTS MTA
SENIOR AND DISABLED
REDUCED FARE I.D. CARDS For Immediate Release (February 27, 1997)
Commuters using Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) Senior or Disabled Reduced
Fare Identification Cards can now use their cards on the County's Ride On bus system, at
discounted fares beginning Monday, March 3. MTA Senior or Disabled Reduced Fare I.D.
card users need only to show their cards to the Ride On bus operator to ride for 80 cents
during the rush hour or 50 cents at all other times, including weekends and holidays.
"Ride On is making transit more convenient for our residents and commuters who
travel on one or more transit systems in the County," said Carolyn Biggins, Chief of the
Division of Transit Services. "This new policy expands the County's transit system and
provides better service to the senior and disabled communities. We welcome them aboard."
In addition to accepting the MTA Senior and Disabled Reduced Fare I.D. cards, Ride
On also accepts WMATA's senior and disabled I.D. cards and Medicare cards for discounted
fares.
