NEW BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE
REGIONAL SERVICES CENTER
HOLDS GRAND OPENING MARCH 22 For Immediate Release: March 4, 1997
The public is invited to the grand opening and dedication of the new Bethesda-Chevy
Chase Regional Services Center on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center
is located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in downtown Bethesda.
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President
Marilyn J. Praisner will be joined in the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremonies by
Congresswoman Constance A. Morella, Councilmember Betty Ann Krahnke and Vice
Chairman Fred S. Silverman of the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board.
The ceremony will be followed by a community reception with light refreshments and
activities including an open house with officers from the Bethesda Police District, health
screenings, presentations and demonstrations, and face painting for children. In addition,
local resident and historian William Offutt will give a presentation on the history of
Bethesda, entitled "Downtown Bethesda-Then and Now." Free parking will be available in
the garage.
The new center, which includes a childcare facility and space for senior citizen
activities, is located above the County's new 1,000-space parking garage. The complex also
includes The Metropolitan, a residential apartment complex built by the County's Housing
Opportunities Commission.
