CHILDREN'S SAFETY FAIR
TO BE HELD ON APRIL 12 AT
MONTGOMERY MALL For Immediate Release: March 15, 1997
The public is invited to a free Children's Safety Fair on Saturday, April 12, from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Events will be held both inside and outside
the mall.
The event -- organized by Congresswoman Constance A. Morella, Montgomery
County, Montgomery County Public Schools and Child Care Connection -- will include
information and activities for parents and children on topics such as child safety seats, bicycle
helmets, fire safety, toy and water safety, falls and poison prevention. In addition, three
special events will be held, including a drive-up vehicle inspection station for child safety
seats (1 to 5 p.m.), a children's bicycle rodeo (10 a.m. to noon) and a child photo
identification program (all day). The program will also include hands-on demonstrations,
appearances by cartoon characters and door prizes.
The fair is sponsored by Montgomery Mall, the Journal Newspapers, WBDC-TV,
Cable TV Montgomery, Montgomery County SafeKids Coalition, the U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission, the Dana Foundation and Ourisman Automotive.
Montgomery Mall is located at 7101 Democracy Blvd., near the intersection of
Democracy Blvd. and Westlake Drive.
