CITIZEN CONSULTATION TEAM
TO ADDRESS US 29 ISSUES For Immediate Release: March 20, 1997
A Citizen Consultation Team (CCT) has been established by County Executive
Douglas M. Duncan to assist in developing transit concepts for US 29 that increase mobility
and neighborhood livability along the highway between the Silver Spring Metro Station and
Burtonsville.
The CCT will work with the Maryland Department of Transportation and the
Montgomery County Department of Public Works and Transportation, the Regional Services
Centers in East County and Silver Spring, and the Maryland-National Capital Park and
Planning Commission to review past studies and initiate project planning of the current study.
As project planning begins, the CCT will continue to work with the State Department
of Transportation and the County agencies to develop the ultimate recommendation for US
29. Throughout the study process, the CCT will also keep the local community informed
about the status of the project.
The following residents have been appointed to the CCT: Michael Pfetsch, Tena
Turner, Peter Perenyi, Brenda Alford, Dr. Stuart Rochester, Barbara Foresti, Thomas
Fleury, Debra Gonski, Harry Sanders and Charles Pritchard. The team selected Michael
Pfetsch as chair and Harry Sanders as vice-chair.
