RIDE-ON BUS SYSTEM'S ANNUAL
MURAL CONTEST OPEN TO
SIXTH GRADE ART STUDENTS For Immediate Release: January 8, 1997
Sixth-grade art students from Montgomery County public and private schools are
invited to enter the Ride-On bus system's 12th annual mural contest.
The contest was created to help instill in the next generation of commuters an
awareness of the importance of using buses, carpools, vanpools and trains. Its 1998 theme is
"Show You Care: Walk, Bike or Share the Ride."
Entries must be created and completed by the students and should be no larger than
six-feet wide and three-feet high. The murals should depict two or more people riding
together in one or more forms of transportation and should also feature the hand-lettered
word: Ride-On.
The first place class will receive an escorted field trip on a Ride-On bus. Past field
trips have been to such locations as the Goddard Space Flight Center, the U.S. Naval
Academy and the Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base. Specially printed bus cards showing
the winning mural and the students who created the mural will be displayed on Ride-On buses
in April, May and June.
All murals are due by February 9 at the County's Division of Transit Services, 110 N.
Washington Street, Suite 200, Rockville, MD 20850. For more information, call 301-217-
2184.
