Duncan Seeks Applicants For
Committee On Hate/Violence

     County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill 12 full and partial-
term  vacancies on the Committee on Hate/Violence. 
     The Committee develops and distributes information about hate/violence in the County
and promotes the positive value of ethnic and social diversity.  The Committee advises the
County Executive, County Council, and County agencies about hate/violence in the County,
and recommends policies, programs, legislation, or regulations to help reduce the incidence of
such acts.
     The Committee consists of l5 voting members who are County residents and six ex-
officio, non-voting members from government agencies, Montgomery County Public Schools
and Montgomery College.
     The voting members reflect the geographic, economic and social diversity of the
County with at least nine members identified with target groups frequently victimized by
hate/violence.  At least two members are parents of school-age children and at least one
member represents the business community.  Members serve without compensation and meet
the second Wednesday evening of the month.  
     Interested citizens should write by Feb. 13 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at
the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe Street, Rockville, MD  20850.  A brief resume
including both business and home telephone numbers should also be enclosed.  Members of
County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a
time.
     Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation
process.
