COUNTY, LAKEFOREST SHOPPING CENTER
KICK OFF TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE
Residents of Montgomery County and the surrounding area will be able to preview new technologies and innovative uses for existing technologies during a two-day showcase at Lakeforest shopping center on October 9 and 10.
The "Discovering Technology - A New World at Your Fingertips" expo will also mark the second anniversary of the Lakeforest Library Connection (LLC) which was launched in the spring of 1996 by the County's Department of Public Libraries, Lakeforest shopping center and numerous private-sector partners. Since it opened, the LLC has provided free computer access to more than 100,000 people in the area.
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, Public Libraries Director Harriet Henderson and Lakeforest General Manager Barbara Kreuser will join officials from the business, educational and high-tech communities in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The LLC will also welcome three new partners - The Gazette Newspapers, IBM and the Workforce Development Corporation. Other partners are Apple Computer, AT&T and Montgomery County Public Schools.
The showcase, which will be held in the LLC on the upper level of the J.C. Penney's wing, will be open to the public on October 9 from 1:30 to 8 p.m. and on October 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lakeforest is located at Exit 11, Montgomery Village Avenue, off I-270 in Gaithersburg.
