DEP Announces New Energy
and Air Quality Website

The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection has created a link on its Internet website to a new homepage produced by the Energy and Air Quality Advisory Committee (EAQAC), covering a wide range of issues addressed by the group.

Topics include electric utility restructuring, consumer education on deregulation, and customer choice, in addition to helpful links to other sites offering restructuring information. Transportation issues, including alternative fuels and alternative-fuel vehicles, are also covered. Finally, there is also general information about EAQAC meetings and initiatives.

EAQAC is a citizens' group that provides assistance to local officials on national, state and local energy and air quality issues affecting the County. Members serve as liaisons with local, state, federal and utility officials overseeing energy and environmental programs in Montgomery County. EAQAC works with County staff to provide information on energy and air quality issues to residents and businesses. The committee also develops and implements near- and long-term energy and air quality programs involving the public and private sectors.

The EAQAC Homepage link can be found at www.co.mo.md.us/dep.
