Duncan Seeks Applicants
For Commission On Child Care
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill eight vacancies on the Montgomery County Commission on Child Care. Three vacancies are in the business and one general public category; two vacancies are for providers of child care, and two vacancies are for parent representatives. Parents of children receiving child care services are especially encouraged to apply. Five incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.
The 25-member commission advises the County Executive and County Council on government policies, programs and services that enhance community support for high quality, affordable and accessible child care. The commission also helps the County Department of Health and Human Services develop initiatives to help families meet their child care needs.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation. The full commission meets the third Wednesday of each month and subcommittee meetings are held once or twice a month.
Applicants should write by February 26 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850. A letter and brief resume including work and home phone numbers should be enclosed. The letter should state why the applicant is interested in serving on the commission. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
