Relocates in Montgomery County
Rockville, MD - GE Information Services, working with the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, the State of Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, and the City of Gaithersburg, announced today that the company will be relocating its Global Headquarters within Montgomery County. GE Information Services has leased 341,000 square feet of office, research and development space in Gaithersburg, Maryland, occupying the building which formerly housed the headquarters of Manor Care, Inc., located at 11555 Darnestown Road.
GE Information Services currently occupies two separate buildings, located about two miles apart, in Rockville, Maryland. The relocation to Gaithersburg will allow the company to consolidate its Global Headquarters into one state-of-the-art facility for its employees. The company's data center operations will remain in Rockville.
"The relocation to this modern state-of-the-art campus is a fitting next step to launch GE Information Services into the 21st century," said Harvey F. Seegers, president and CEO for GE Information Services. "Consolidation of our headquarters facilities will allow us to further offer our customers the most efficient, high quality support and service that is synonymous with the General Electric Company."
GE Information Services has been a pioneer in the information management industry for more than 30 years. Today, GE Information Services is a global leader in business-to-business electronic commerce solutions, managing the world's largest electronic trading community of more than 100,000 trading partners. GE Information Services' global solutions include Electronic Data Interchange and messaging gateways, extranet services, and a full suite of applications that streamline supply chain management processes.
"Working together, State and local officials have retained over 1,000 jobs in Montgomery County," said Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. "Our Department of Business and Economic Development will provide $250,000 in workforce training funds. GE Information Services is to be congratulated for its commitment to total quality management and for choosing to stay in Montgomery County, Maryland."
"We are very pleased that GE Information Services has chosen to locate in Gaithersburg and delighted that GE Information Services will be continuing to build its international reputation by upgrading its Global Headquarters within Montgomery County," said Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan. "We are proud to be the home of leading-edge technology companies such as GE Information Services."
The State of Maryland, Montgomery County and the City of Gaithersburg all worked to help GE Information Services with site selection of the new Global Headquarters. The County is assisting GE Information Services in its relocation by providing a $150,000 grant and the City of Gaithersburg is working with the company to streamline the process of the relocation.
Since the company is relocating within Montgomery County, all phone numbers, fax number and e-mail addresses for the company will remain the same, only the company's mailing address will change. GE Information Services customers will experience no interruptions in service, coverage, or quality as a result of this relocation.
