Empowerment Through Literacy
Program Planned with Noted Author
Well known lecturer, Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt, will discuss " The Success of Our People" on October 23 as part of a continuing series of 'Empowerment by Literacy' discussions by African American authors.
Dr. Reid-Merritt's lecture will be held at the UpCounty Regional Services Center, 12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, from 2 to 4 p.m. The presentation will focus on the childhood and professional development of successful women, the challenges they faced and their struggles for personal happiness.
Dr. Reid-Merritt is a professor at Richard Stockton College in Pomona, New Jersey. She has lectured throughout the United States and abroad. Her book, Sister Power: Black Women on the Cutting Edge of Leadership, profiles 25 successful Black women.
The lecture series is co-hosted by the Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries and the Montgomery County African American Employees' Association.
