Public Meeting Set on
Briggs Chaney Road Improvements
Area residents are invited to attend a public meeting on the proposed Briggs Chaney Road improvement, east of Route 29, on Tuesday, November 16 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville. Parking is available on the G-2 level under the building.
Conducted by the County's Department of Public Works and Transportation, the purpose of the meeting is to hear from citizens so that the department can advise the County Executive on whether construction of this project is in the public interest. Preliminary design features include a widened and reconstructed divided highway with two through lanes in each direction from Route 29 to Aston Manor Drive. Also included in the preliminary plans are additional turn lanes at intersections, a bikeway from Route 29 to Old Briggs Chaney Road west of Olive Branch Drive, and sidewalk and pedestrian crosswalks.
For more information, call Jim Ellis at 240-777-7220. Written comments may be submitted to the Division of Engineering Services, 101 Monroe Street, 9th Floor, Rockville, MD 20850.
