"PROTECT OUR WATER" SIGNS
ERECTED IN EASTERN COUNTY

Residents and drivers in the eastern part of the County will notice new blue and white "Protect Our Water"signs which have been erected along seven major County roads that divide the drainage area between the Patuxent and Potomac rivers.

Installed by the Patuxent Reservoirs Watershed Protection Group, consisting of Montgomery, Prince George's and Howard counties, the signs are designed to increase awareness of the protection and management needs for the Patuxent Reservoirs (Triadelphia and T. Howard Duckett) and their watersheds.

The same signs will also be installed by Howard County to mark the watershed boundary on the other side of the reservoirs.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission manages the two reservoirs, located on the Patuxent River between Montgomery and Howard counties. The reservoirs were constructed to provide drinking water, but also to offer recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat for the region.

The logo on the signs was designed by Victor Weidner, a northeastern county resident, for a WSSC-sponsored contest.

For more information about the reservoirs watershed protection effort and how to become a resource steward, call Meo Curtis of the Montgomery County Watershed Management Division at 301-217-6395.
