VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
TO WORK WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS
Persons interested in assisting sexual assault victims and their families are needed to serve as volunteers with the Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Volunteers provide 24-hour crisis counseling and companion services to victims of rape and sexual assault at local hospitals and police stations. There is a special need for volunteers to cover day and early morning shifts.
All volunteers must attend a 40-hour training program, which covers crisis intervention skills and specialized knowledge of the emotional, medical and legal issues that victims face. A 12-month commitment to the program is required. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and immediate access to transportation.
Potential volunteers are being interviewed for the spring training program.
