DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS
FOR ALCOHOL AND OTHER
DRUG ABUSE COUNCIL For Immediate Release (March 1, l996)
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill six
vacancies on the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Advisory Council. One vacancy
is for a term expiring in June 1998.
The vacancies must be filled by a member of the general public, a
prevention representative, a high school representative, a practicing
physician, a relative of a person receiving care, and a pharmacist
representative.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation and meet the second
Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in Rockville.
The Council advises the Department of Health and Human Services, the
County Executive, and the County Council in identifying local alcohol and
other drug abuse program needs, assists in the development of plans to meet
those needs, makes recommendations in the budget process relative to those
programs, and promotes public education regarding alcoholism and other drug
abuse.

Duncan at the Executive Office Building, l0l Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850.
A brief resume that includes home and business telephone numbers should be
enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve
on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the
confirmation process.
