DUNCAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR
ANIMAL MATTERS HEARING BOARD For Immediate Release (March 29, 1996)
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to
fill three vacancies on the Montgomery County Animal Matters Hearing Board.
One regular and one alternate member vacancy must be filled by a
representative of the County Veterinary Medical Association and one alternate
member vacancy must be filled by a representative of recognized animal
fanciers' and breeders' groups.
The board holds hearings to address complaints regarding animal-related
nuisances and issues any orders necessary for abatement, is responsible for
hearing and determining appeals regarding licenses that have been denied or
revoked by the Division of Animal Control and Humane Treatment, and makes
recommendations concerning the operation of animal control facilities in the
County. Members serve three-year terms without compensation and are required
to file annual financial disclosure statements.
Members meet at least the second and fourth Thursday evenings of each
month to conduct hearings.

A brief resume including work and home phone numbers should be enclosed.
Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more
than one such group at a time.
