Delegation of Chinese Business
Leaders to Visit Montgomery        For Immediate Release:   May 22, 1996

                                             

     Fourteen top business and government officials from China’s Wujiang City
will be visiting with Montgomery County officials and business leaders between
May 23 and May 26 to discuss trade and investment opportunities in China.  The
delegation's four-day visit will include a May 23 business forum and
reception, and a tour of Montgomery County on May 24.
     The May 23 business forum -- to be held at the Holiday Inn Bethesda --
will bring together local firms to discuss outstanding trade and investment
opportunities in Wujiang.  It will be hosted by the County’s Office of
Economic Development and co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Chamber of
Commerce, the Suburban Maryland International Trade Association, the Asian
American Resource Development and Employment Center, and the Global Trade
Council.  
      We are pleased to welcome this high level delegation to Montgomery
County,  said David W. Edgerley, the County’s Economic Development Director. 
 While many County businesses already have trade relationships in China, this
business forum will provide a remarkable opportunity for direct interchange. 
     Located in China’s southern Jiangsu Province, Wujiang City is seven
miles from Suzhou, only 37 miles from Shanghai International Airport, and
adjacent to Taihu Lake, a major tourist destination.  Wujiang’s three economic
development and industrial zones, incentives for foreign high technology
