SIX COUNTY FARMERS MARKETS
OPENING FIRST WEEK OF JUNE             For Immediate Release (May 30, 1996)

     The Montgomery County Office of Economic Development and the Montgomery
County Farmers Market Association will be opening six farmers' market
locations for the 1996 growing season.
     Locations and hours of operation for the markets are as follows:
          Bethesda -- National Institutes of Health, 9000 Wisconsin Avenue
          on parking lot 41B, Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m.;
          Potomac -- Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River Road,
          Thursdays from 1-4:30 p.m.;
          Gaithersburg -- Southern States, 8 Summit Avenue, Thursdays from
          1-6 p.m.;
          Silver Spring -- Silver Spring Armory, Wayne Avenue and Fenton
          Street, Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
          Germantown -- Upcounty Services Center, 12900 Middlebrook Road,
          Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
          Damascus -- MD Route 108, behind the Damascus Library, Sundays
          from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
     The County's Office of Economic Development provides a 24-hour phone
message on its information line with details about what type of produce is
